Health doesn't happen in isolation. Where we live, what we breathe, the care we can access, our family history, and the support around us all matter. Sistahs Can We Talk brings trusted information, community voices, health resources, and partners together to help women and families live healthier lives.
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT
We focus on health issues that disproportionately affect women, families, and communities that have historically faced barriers to information, prevention, care, and advocacy.
We believe people deserve more than information.
They deserve access, support, a voice, and a path to action.
They deserve access, support, a voice, and a path to action.
The Five Areas
Early Detection. Education. Survivorship.
Through breast-health education, mammography connections, survivor voices, advocacy, and the National Witness Project, SCWT helps women understand their risk and take action.
Breathe Better. Live Better.
Our lung-health work addresses tobacco-related disease, menthol tobacco, prevention, cessation, community education, and the role trusted institutions—including faith communities—can play in improving health.
Healthy Mothers. Healthy Babies. Healthy Families.
We work to improve awareness, access, advocacy, and trusted connections for mothers and families while addressing disparities that affect maternal and infant health. Maternal-health education Family resources Community conversations Trusted-care connections Advocacy |
Where We Live, Work & Play Affects Our Health. Our environment plays a powerful role in our health. SCWT addresses environmental conditions that can contribute to health disparities—including air and water quality, chemical exposures, housing conditions, extreme heat, secondhand smoke, and neighborhood conditions—and how these factors can affect respiratory health, chronic disease, maternal and infant health, and overall well-being.
Mind. Body. Spirit. Community.
Health is more than the absence of disease. Our programs encourage movement, nutrition, emotional wellness, prevention, healthy relationships, spiritual well-being, and sustainable lifestyle change.
